Within the structure of UNFPA the CST offices, which are located in Africa (Addis Ababa, Dakar, Harare), Arab Sates and Europe Region (Amman, Bratislava) Asia (Bangkok, Fiji, Kathmandu), and Latin America (Mexico City) play a critical role for the delivery of the mandate of UNFPA.  The CSTs collaborate closely with our Country Offices and with UNFPA headquarters.  The teams consist of highly qualified experts and are led and managed by a director who is also expected to be an outstanding authority in a particular area of population and development or reproductive health.  CST offices provide crucial cutting edge technical support to our Country Offices, Government counterparts, other UN agencies, NGOs and bilateral organizations.  To become members of our country support team in Amman we are seeking to recruit outstandingly qualified experts as

 

ADVISER

COUNTRY SUPPPORT TEAM (L5)

 

 

The CST Adviser works in a team of technical experts who specialize in various aspects of population and development and reproductive health.  The CST serves as the primary source of technical expertise for developing and supporting the delivery of UNFPA’s programmes at the country level.

 

CST Advisers work closely with UNFPA Programme Managers, Government counterparts and officials from other UN agencies, NGOs and bilateral organizations to promote the achievement of UNFPA’s mandate in the fields of reproductive health and population. 

 

Our CST Advisers are recognized experts in their area of expertise with extensive practical and theoretical background and a proven track record in the subject matters relevant to the mandate of UNFPA.  They are experienced team workers in multicultural team settings and have detailed knowledge of the region where the CST is located.

 

 

The CST Advisers:

 

q       Engage effectively in policy dialogue at the country, regional and institutional levels in support of the country offices’ efforts;

q       Assess situations and capacities and innovate creative approaches and strategies to meet programme objectives;

q       Promote a supportive environment to enhance partnerships, leverage resources and build support for Population and RH programmes;

q       Identify, develop and apply effective strategies for technical assistance and capacity building at country and regional levels.

 

 

We are looking for candidates:

 

q       With the ability for conceptual innovation and strategic thinking;

q       Who can adapt and apply knowledge and innovations in different contexts;

q       With strong communication and advocacy skills;

q       Who can build partnerships and strategic alliances; and

q       Who work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.
